Castagnuelas (Spain)

They consist of two shell-shaped pieces of wood joined by a string. The most popular are the hand ones to be fixed to the thumb, which are made to hit each other through an opening and closing movement of the hand. They are a typical instrument of Spanish and southern Italian popular atmospheres
